FAQ

What is the heat score?

Temperature plus dew point, both in °F. Below 100 there is no adjustment. From 100 to 180 paces are slowed by a rising percentage, up to 10%. Above 180 running is not recommended and paces are shown for reference only.

Why do my paces differ from other calculators?

The pace engine is the Track and Road Performance threshold model: it converts your race to a 5K equivalent, builds LT1, Sub-T and LT2 ranges from that, then applies a heat penalty scaled by rep length. Most calculators use a different race-to-pace table and none of them adjust for the day's heat, so the numbers will not match exactly.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Everything is calculated on your device. Without a connection the app uses the last weather reading it fetched (it shows the time it is from), or you can enter temperature and dew point by hand.

Do athletes need accounts?

No. Accounts are optional and only for coaches who want their roster synced between devices. Athletes never sign in and are never contacted. We suggest entering athletes as a first name and last initial.

How do I share a board?

Open the Roster tab and tap Share link. The whole roster is encoded in the link itself (nothing is stored on a server). Anyone who opens the link sees the same team board in the app or on the web, and can choose to load those athletes into their own roster.

Used the app at trp-heat-pace.vercel.app before? Open it there once and tap 'Move my roster' to bring your athletes to lakticrunning.com.
